Handle:
Briar Wood with traditional shepherd's cross inlayed with stainless pins.
Blade
: Stainless 12c27 Swedish steel, 9.5 cm long (3.75"), 3 mm thick. Hardness: 56-57 Hrc. Matte finish.
Size and weight:
12 cm folded, 21.5 cm open, approx 90 grams.
Plates & bolsters:
1.2 mm thick stainless steel with 2 solid matte finish bolsters.
Spring:
The "Bee" spring is made from 3 mm thick stainless steel Z20c13 with a solid blade stop built into springs. That helps maintain the edge of the blade. The traditional bee is solid and forged into the spring. The whole spring (including inside) and bee are then hand-chased with a file which denotes artisan quality. Unlike inexpensive mass market products that have welded springs and are machine decorated. These details create a unique Laguiole knife, making each knife one of a kind.

What is a Laguiole Knife?
Laguiole is the name of a mountain village located in Southern France and is also the name of a specific style folding knife made in France. The Laguiole was first designed in 1829 and has seen design changes over the past two centuries. Every authentic Laguiole knife is hand made, beautiful fine file work is characteristic of the Laguiole. Special unique materials are used for the handle of these knives ranging from wood to horn, bone and fossil material.

Thiers has been the hub of French cutlery and knives for more than 600 years. The company is a manufacturer of high quality French pocket knives, such as the Laguiole knife, Laguiole steak knives and other cutlery. These knives are handcrafted, each knife is crafted by a small team of men and women. These artisans have earned their degree from the oldest cutlery school in Thiers. Each knife is meticulously built with more than 100 separate operations. In some cases, the product can incur an additional 50 steps to create the final piece.
