    Description

Early NIPPON Heavy Gold Gilt Moriage Footed Creamer & Sugar Set Oak Leaves & Acorns
    Maker and age
: On the base of both pieces of this exceptionally beautiful cream and sugar set is the blue "Hand Painted Nippon" maple leaf mark of Morimura Nippon, the iconic company that was the predecessor of Noritake. This mark was in use from 1891 to  around 1911.
    Design
: Morimura Nippon is justifiably famous for its high quality and this set is no exception. The exquisite pattern features ornate gold trimmed cartouches of finely painted with a heavy gold gilt or moriage (as some collectors call it). Both pieces are richly accented with elegant raised gold beading. The porcelain is thin and translucent, with a slight greyish tinge that is typical of early Japanese porcelain.
    Size
: The creamer is 3 inches tall and 4.75 inches long between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle. The sugar bowl is 6.5 inches wide between the far ends of the handles and 4.5 inches tall at the top of the lid.
    Condition
: The set is in overall excellent condition with no repairs, chips, or cracks.  The gold beading is intact. There is wear to the paint on the handles and light paint wear to the edges of some of the feet.
Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
